Do you need an excuse to dust off that equipment that has been buried in your basement for so long that you have forgotten the last time you used it?

Do you have a hard time meeting people who enjoy spending time outdoors?

Do you want to learn a new adventure sport?

Do you wish you knew more about the environment?

Are you looking for a worthwhile environmental community service project?

Do we have the club for you!

Whenever we are out promoting our programs for kids, we always hear the same question..."What do you offer for adults?"

Well, now the answer to that question is The RiverRidge Adventure Club.  We realize that many of us love to experience the natural world, but due to proximity and a lack of time to setup an adventure, we simply don't get outside as much as we should.  And therefore, we're probably not as healthy as we could be.

In an effort to age with grace, and have some fun along the way, we have established monthly "local" outdoor activites for our members.  Our goal is to develop activities for all ability levels and choose locations that offer a variety of fun.  Whether you are a skier, snowboarder, snowshoer, rock climber, mountain biker, kayaker, fly fisherman, trail runner, or simply love taking a nice long, quiet, leisurely stroll down a winding grassy single track, or want to learn a new sport, this club is for you.

Our mission is to develop an outdoor community of environmental enthusiasts by providing one "local" outing each month, and then schedule an "epic" adventure once a year.  We also want to use the power of the internet to build our community.  Our members also have access to a discussion board, chat room, and a blog for providing a record of our endeavors.

We take a page from our other environmental programs by teaching you about the environment along the way. Experienced naturalists teach you about the geology and ecology of the places we visit.  You will leave each outing knowing a little bit more about the areas you love to play in.  Then, we give you the opportunity to give back to the environment by engaging in worthy, well planned, service projects.

Our adventures always take place on the last Saturday of the month.  Our very first event will take place in
Elizabeth Furnace, in the George Washington National Forest.  This destination offers excellent opportunities for mountain biking, rock climbing, fly fishing, trail running, and hiking.  Once you become a member, you will receive details of this event.  To peak your interest, however, we will divide up into groups (rock climbers with rock climbers, mountain bikers with mountain bikers, etc.), complete a two hour service project, have fun in the park, and then end the day with a cookout and a naturalist's presentation about our location.

Our first epic adventure will take you on a five day ski trip to...VAIL, COLORADO!  You will recieve specific information about this event once you become a member.  We will set up the entire trip for you.  That's right!  We will reserve airfare, lodging, get lift passes, and purchase your rental packages.  All you will have to do is to pay for this event and sit back and relax.  No hassles!  And then, enjoy three full fun-filled days in one of the greatest ski destinations in the world!  This will certainly be an adventure to remember.
