In addition to the nature hikes, water fun, and arts and crafts, the Appalachian Adventurers Program teaches our campers environmental concepts taken from the Virginia Science Standards of Learning within the following content areas for 4th grade and 5th Grade: Scientific Investigation, Reasoning, and Logic; Force, Motion, and Energy; Matter; Life Processes; Living Systems; Interrelationships in Earth/ Space Systems; Earth Patterns, Cycles, and Change; and Resources.  By exploring these topics, our campers will be ahead of the curve when they return to school in the fall.

Through a partnership with the Lions, campers will also get to stay overnight on Wednesday Night, August 5th in cabins at the Northern Virginia Lions Youth Camp just down the road from the Burwell Van-Lennep Land Trust.  Dinner, breakfast and lunch the following day will be provided.  The Shenandoah Astronomical Society will be joining us with their huge telescopes to lead us on a tour of the night sky.  There will also be plenty of marshmallows to roast, songs around the camp fire, and plenty of evening activites.  Don't miss the fun!

Step Two:  If you are going to include other things like additional t-shirts, and camp transportation, select the shopping cart button.  This allows you to add multiple items and pay once.  If you are only paying the nonrefundable deposit, you can select the "Buy Now" button.  You can use your credit card and not open a PayPal account by selecting the continue button under the "Don't Have a PayPal Account?" once you have selected the "Buy Now" button.  Once payment is received, we will send out a welcoming package to you which will include all camp forms, the camp t-shirt, and the final bill.

Step 3: Read through your welcoming packet when you receive it (it usually takes about two weeks) and return the completed health form, waiver, and final payment by the due date printed on the final bill.
